5 Freezing Winter Looks

Started a styling series based on follower request and I’ve honestly been blown away (and a little anxiety ridden!) with how excited you all were for it. The premise behind this series is that you can submit an occasion and I style a look(s) for it.

This first occasion was “how to dress in a freezing city, like NYC.” I received so many suggestions, but I’m starting with this one, because I felt strongly that 1. you more than likely already have these items in your closet, like I do and 2. layering is my favorite.

Look 1

This one is my ‘I want to stay comfy, but I got places to be’ weekend look. I would probably wear this to a bar to watch the game, running errands, or a casual brunch with my husband.

The premise behind this, and all of my looks, is LAYERING. This one the base was a long sleeve turtle neck, tucked into high waisted leather leggings (these ones are the best I’ve found and from H&M!). If you live somewhere freezing and don’t have either of these items, I’d be surprised, so pull yours out and start with this base layer.

I like to layer jackets in freezing weather as well. That way if it’s cold outside, but only slightly warmer inside, you can remove one of the jackets. If it’s hot inside (this seems to happen more often than not!), then you can remove both jackets.

Of course, paired with combat boots, because they’re the best winter accessory.

Look 2

This look you could wear to a weekend meetup with your friends, running errands during the week, or a casual Sunday stroll. It’s for when you want to look like you tried, but just threw on some basics to tie it all together.

I paired my trench coat with a leather button down as I no longer own a leather jacket. I think a leather jacket would be super cute here, or even a jean jacket/button down. The point is layer up a button down shirt or another jacket under your trench and, voila, another winter outfit that you can remove layers from (especially if you’re trying to wear a sleeveless shirt in the winter – hey, no judgement!).

Look 3

Okay, okay, this is my favorite look of this series. Completely tonal, but very chic – I hate the word chic but cannot find a good alternative to describe this look.

This is my “ladies who lunch” look. Or a look you can throw on for a casual work environment, an important, but casual, meeting, or one you can wear to brunch with the in laws – when you want to look a little extra pulled together.

Look 4

This look gives me all the urban vibes. I feel like I’d be wearing this in the city walking to my trendy workplace, Christmas shopping, or lunch. Not to mention it’s superrr comfy and you can’t really tell based on the accessories. Anytime you can pair a hoodie with flats and a beanie, that means you don’t have to do your hair AND you get to be comfy walking around. win.win.

Look 5

This is my “walking around in the snow” look. Pair a utility jumper, snow boots, and the biggest puffer jacket and you get a match made in Apres Ski heaven.

The best part about wearing a utility jumpsuit is you could pair any kind of thermals underneath and still have an additional layer on top. Not to mention jumpsuits tend to be very comfortable for long wear.

I have to give a little shout out to H&M for this puffer coat. I live in Georgia and definitely don’t need a coat like this, but wow this one was is GOOD and only $70. I bought in the name of research… or so I’m telling myself!
