where she lives | harrison white of gilty as charged

I know. I’m crazy to have dropped off the Where She Lives bandwagon. It was one of my most requested series that I use to write about and life just got away from me; but WE’RE BACK.

For those of you who have not seen a Where She Lives post, the whole idea behind this series was to give you a peek inside the homes of Atlanta’s creatives. My goal was to find other bloggers/creatives who have worked hard to make their house a home, share it with you guys, and then dig a little deeper into that person’s style – both interiors and fashion.

I did a few of these posts last year, you can check out a couple here:

Morgan Sandlin of Atl Girl Gang

Emily Hertz of Born on Fifth

Marah Rice of MarahCAR

I have quite a few good ones lined up for you guys, but am so excited to kick the series back off with one of my blogger besties – Harrison White of GILTY as charged.

If you know Harrison, you know that she has a great sense of humor to the point of crying laughing at some of the comments that come out of her mouth. She’s also basically a human barbie doll, because goals. She has a great sense of personal style, the most adorable little family – including two cutie dogs, and can decorate a house in 2.5 seconds. No joke, I am beyond impressed with how quickly she decked out their house. She’s got skills, people. And she’s sharing them with us below.

Harrison’s neutral farmhouse style home is right outside Atlanta in a cute suburb called Roswell. If you haven’t been to Roswell, you’re missing out. The downtown area is super cute with a ton of restaurants and breweries to keep your bar hopping self happy (if that’s your thing). There’s also quite a few antique stores and is apparently where you should go if you’re into antiques. Seems like they got quite a few goods ones in the area.

Keep reading for my interview with Harrison…

THE INTERVIEW:

Tell us a little about who you are and what you do.

Sure! And thank you again for having me! Well, my name is Harrison White and I am the style blogger behind GILTY as charged. GILTY started out purely as my little fashion outlet – a way to support my ever growing shopping habit? haha Over the years, it has evolved with the different stages of my life – from wedding, to new dog mom and now to homeowner and DIY-tryer. It’s a collection of everything I love in style, decor and some really cute fur babies too.

I also work full-time as Patient Liaison for OVME in Buckhead. We are a Medical Aesthetics studio and I credit our amazing providers fully for helping my skin to be the best it’s ever been. Skincare is my latest obsession and you’ll be seeing more of that this year on GILTY.

Your home is so put together, I’m impressed!  What inspired you to decorate this way?

Haha! Oh my gosh, thank you, but most days I hardly feel done! I am constantly moving things around and changing my decor out. We even got a new couch since you were last over! The White House only has one speed – and that’s ‘do it now.’

I moved into our house from my teeny tiny bachelorette pad which was mostly covered in fur and gold. I loved my old girly pieces, but when I saw them inside our house it just felt out of place. I have always loved the farmhouse style and anything Joanna Gaines lays her creative little hands on, so it just kind of naturally fell into place once I chose to mix the new with the old for a nice balance of antique-chic. Maybe I should trademark that…

You have the best farmhouse details. Where did you find all the decorative pieces you have around your home?

My husband will tell you, my biggest flaw by far is that I LOVE to shop. haha BUT – because I love to shop so often, I’m a big believer in a good deal, so a lot of my best finds are from Target, Home Goods and Pier 1. My splurge pieces are from Restoration Hardware and Historic Roswell Antiques – by far one of my favorites places to shop!

In your opinion, what makes a house a home?

A perfect mix of comfort and style. I love that our home is not only visually pleasing to look at, but the furniture is soft and welcoming and begs you to snuggle up in it instead of being off-limits or too pretty to touch (or more importantly – to drink red wine on!).

How would you describe your personal style, both in your home décor and also in your wardrobe?

I’d say neutral, natural and chic. If it’s black, white or nude – I either already own two of it, want it or it’s in my cart ready to buy.

In terms of your personal style, what are you most comfortable in, during the week and also on the weekends?

I’m a denim girl to my very core. So when I’m not at work in my Spanx leggings, you can find me in distressed denim and an oversized sweater or tee.

What are your three favorite pieces in your closet right now?

My acid wash high-waisted jeans from Zara that fit me perfectly and go with everything, my white boyfriend blazer (also from Zara), and a high-low pair of denim shorts I snagged from an Etsy shop.

Do you have any specific brands that you love or places you shop at frequently?

Oh yes! I love Zara for outerwear and basics, lately I have been really into the denim at Express – and for trendier items I am not willing to splurge on, I always check Shein. These are my go-to for affordable, but of the moment pieces. Another local boutique I shop at constantly is Sculpthouse. They have the best sneaker selection!

What tips would you have for someone trying to develop their own personal style?

Don’t think too much into it – just pick three to five pieces that you gravitate towards most. What do you like about them? What do they have in common? The best thing about your personal style is just that – it’s YOURS and no one else can argue it. Just go with what you find yourself most attracted to and your style will always be authentic.

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?

One thing people probably would be surprised to know is that I am an only child and was a full-blown tomboy until I was 13. I’m talking no makeup, no heels – didn’t care about clothes, just played outside and wore long shorts and a ponytail until one day I just did a complete 180 and decided I loved all those girly things. I think my mom is still shocked. haha!

What’s next for Harrison White? Give us all the details.

This summer on the home front I have big plans for bringing in some antique doors and DIY-ing our upstairs deck, so stay tuned! Fashionwise, I’m also shooting some clothing collabs with a few brands I am REALLY excited about and saving for a pretty major bag purchase. I hope you’ll follow along to see!
