thoughts on time

hey team (yes, we’re all in this together), I wanted to share with you my current thoughts on time. I found myself recently saying over and over and over again that I “have no time.” no time to work on this blog, no time to go to the gym, no time to cook my husband dinner, no time to take my frenchie on a walk… the list could go on. I mean, I don’t even have kids yet (shoutout to all the moms out there. especially working moms)! time is a tricky thing.

I had a moment of clarity the other day and I wanted to share with you in case you have felt the same time pressure as I was feeling. I realized just what the problem was…

I didn’t prioritize my time for the things I knew I wanted to work on and accomplish.

I met a new friend the other day (hey @karenrodriguezatlanta!) who shared with me her thoughts on time and, what she called, “the 5 am miracle.” it’s no secret that there are many people who credit their success to waking up at 5 am every morning, but some how when Karen said it, it just clicked.

now, I’m not saying waking up at 5 am is for everyone, but what I AM saying is that you have to find the time. I know that now and, let me tell you, I feel more focused than ever. I’m excited about new opportunities (even more than I was before) and will never let myself say “I have no time” ever again. I mean, they say we have the same amount of time in a day as Beyonce, right?

speaking of time… there’s one outfit combo that is timeless and (duh) that’s a white t-shirt and a classic pair of denim.

I landed on this look today simply because I have not shot such a true basic to post to the blog yet and I wanted to make sure I got it on here. my love for a tee and denim will never die. I imagine that everyone of you can agree (I picture you raising your hand up as we speak!). when in doubt, literally throw on a slouchy tee and high waisted jeans. but really.

I thrifted this pair of denim from the local goodwill. they are the perfect levi’s oversized mom jeans and I will never let them go. of course, my husband hates them, but I still wear them weekly. I have been buying extra oversized pants lately and belting them really tight, high-waisted. they are SUPER comfy and look a little more interesting then the normal pair of denim.

it’s funny, as simple as a tshirt and jeans can be, you can definitely make it feel like a new look by simply keeping your tshirt or jeans on trend. this tshirt is the most classic tee out there (short sleeve crew neck), but it is a little lighter material; which makes it a little less starchy then a true cotton blend. by pairing it with an on trend denim (oversized mom jeans), I do feel like this is a totally new outfit that I’ve never worn, even though I have worn this combo for yearrrrrrs. would you agree?

can we also take a quick moment to talk about this watch? it pairs perfectly the whole basic, “must-have-in-your-closet” theme of this fit. if you don’t have a minimal, neutral color watch yet, get it on it. this one has been a new fav recently and has also helped me with the whole “time” thing. I’ve been paying close attention to time lately and needed a little extra reminder here and there. this watch being eco-friendly doesn’t hurt either.
